Very moist and flavorful yellow cake, very low in saturated fat.

Recipe Ingredients for Yellow cake

2/3 cup sugar
1 egg
2 egg whites
1/4 cup canola oil
1/4 cup applesauce
1/2 cup dry white wine (or milk)
3/4 cups wheat flour, (pastry)
1/2 cup almond meal
1 1/8 tsp baking powder
1 tbsp vanilla

Recipe Directions for Yellow cake

  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Spray a 9-inch round cake pan with canola oil and flour it.

  2. Combine dry ingredients.

  3. Beat sugar and eggs on medium speed for a minute.

  4. Add all other liquid ingredients, then the dry mixture.

  5. Pour batter into pan and bake on middle rack approx. 30 minutes or until cake has pulled away from sides of pan.

  6. Let cool for 5 min, then transfer to wire cooling racks.
