Whole Wheat Bread Mama Makes! Yum

Recipe Ingredients for Wonderful Wheat Bread

10 cups whole wheat flour
4 cups water (warm)
2 tablespoons instant yeast
1/3 cup vegetable oil
1/2 cup honey
1 tablespoon salt

Recipe Directions for Wonderful Wheat Bread

  1. Combine 6 cups flour and yeast. Add water to make it sponge-like. Let mixture rest 10 minutes.

  2. Add honey, oil and salt. Add the remaining flour 1 cup at a time until dough pulls away from the bowl. Put dough on floured surface and knead 12-15 minutes (until dough is smooth and elastic). Preheat oven to 150 degrees. Shape dough into loaves and place in greased bread pans. Place pans in oven and TURN OVEN OFF. Let dough rise until almost double in size (about 30 minutes). Turn oven back on to 350 degrees and bake for 50 minutes. Bread is done when it sounds "hollow" when tapped lightly.

  3. Yield: 3-4 loaves
