Recipe Ingredients for Winter Vegetable Barley Curry Soup

2 tbsp butter
1 white onion
2 tsp garlic salt
1 tsp black pepper
2 tsp curry powder
1/4 tsp nutmeg
1/8 tsp ground cloves
1/4 tsp paprika
1/8 tsp cayenne
1/8 tsp red pepper flakes
3/4 cup dry barley
1/2 cup chopped parsnip
1 lb carrots
1/2 lb green beans
1 red potato
3 cups cabbage
12 cups water

Recipe Directions for Winter Vegetable Barley Curry Soup

  1. fry onions in butter with spices

  2. add barley, fry for 1-2 minutes

  3. add parsnips, stir 1 minute

  4. add water slowly at the same time adding in other vegetables, until about 12 cups water added

  5. boil, reduce, simmer 45 minutes
