500 g wholemeal flour
3 tbsp olive oil
2 tbsp honey
1 1/2 tsp yeast
1 1/2 tsp salt
235 ml water

Recipe Directions for Wholemeal bread (home-made

  1. Using quick acting dried yeast:

  2. mix dry ingredients together in a large bowl,

  3. warm water to hand hot then add water, honey and oil,

  4. mix to form a dough then knead it on a floured board for 10 minutes before shaping it e.g. to fit baking tin,

  5. add dough to an oiled loaf tin or baking tray,

  6. oil top of loaf to prevent sticking, then cover loosely with a warm wet tea-towel or oiled clingfilm,

  7. place in warm place then leave to rise (should double in size), about 2 hours,

  8. cook in preheated oven at 200 deg C for 20-25 minutes, is done when tapping bottom sounds hollow,

  9. transfer to wire rack to cool
