This low fat treat doesn?t sacrifice flavor for reduced fat. Share with others within a day or so. Can be frozen as the lower fat level affects keeping quality.

Recipe Ingredients for Whole Wheat Scones

1/4 cup unsweetened apple juice
2 cups whole wheat flour
1 cup skim milk
1/2 tsp salt
2 tbsp baking powder
6 g splenda, packets
3/4 cup currants, raisins or cranberries

Recipe Directions for Whole Wheat Scones

  1. Preheat oven to 400F (200C).

  2. Line 8-inch (1.2 L) round cake pan with parchment paper.

  3. In large bowl, whisk together flour, sugar, baking powder and salt.

  4. In a separate small bowl, mix cream, currants and orange juice. Add to dry ingredients using a wooden spoon, stir just until combined.

  5. Pour into prepared pan.

  6. Bake in center of oven for 18 to 25 minutes or until top is golden and skewer inserted in center comes out clean.

  7. Cool in pan on wire rack for 10 minutes. Cut into 10 wedges to serve.
