whole wheat pizza dough. this is a large batch . i like to make extra and freeze the leftover crusts for other meals

Recipe Ingredients for whole wheat pizza dough

16 1/2 oz warm water (at 105-110 degrees)
3 3/4 tsp active dry yeast
1 1/2 tbsp sugar
1 1/8 tsp salt
1 1/2 tbsp vegetable oil
4 1/2 cups whole wheat flour
1 1/2 cups bread flour

Recipe Directions for whole wheat pizza dough

  1. combine water, active dry yeast, and sugar in a bowl and let sit for 5 minutes.

  2. add in salt, oil, and flour and mix until combined.

  3. turn out onto floured surface and knead for 5-8 minutes.

  4. Place in a bowl that's been sprayed with cooking spray.

  5. cover and let rise for 1 hour.

  6. punch down dough and divide into 18 small pizzas or 2-3 larger pizzas.

  7. place on greased cookie sheet or pizza pan and top with desired sauce and toppings (not included on calorie count).

  8. Bake at 400F for 14-16 minutes.

  9. if i want to freeze crusts i will cook them in a cast iron skillet for about 45 seconds on each side, let cool and freeze.

  10. for precooked crusts you bake them at 400F for 8-10 minutes after you add toppings.
