Easy & tasty - can make ahead & freeze or refrigerate

Recipe Ingredients for Whole Wheat Pizza or Calzone Dough

2 cups whole wheat flour
1 1/2 cups all purpose flour
1 tbsp yeast
1 tbsp extra virgin olive oil
1 tsp honey
1 1/2 cups water (110 - 120 degrees)
1 tsp salt

Recipe Directions for Whole Wheat Pizza or Calzone Dough

  1. In a small glass container, dissolve honey in water & then add yeast to water to proof

  2. In a large bowl combine 2 cups wheat flour, 1 cup all purpose flour, & salt

  3. Make a well in the center of the dry ingredients

  4. Add olive oil & yeasty water to well

  5. Combine until able to turn out on floured surface

  6. Knead in as much of the remaining flour as needed for at least 10 minutes, until smooth & elastic

  7. Divide in half & form two balls

  8. Put balls in an oiled bowl (or bowls), turning to coat all sides

  9. Cover & let rise until double in bulk (~ 15 minutes)

  10. Punch down & let rise again about 10 minutes (freeze/refrigerate one half at this point if you choose)

  11. Shape as needed for crust/calzone, bake as directed or at 425*F until golden brown and done
