A healthier delicious alternative to the real thing.... Note: you can make the sauce from one can tomato sauce and one can tomato paste (and spices). Use about a tablespoon per pita.

Recipe Ingredients for Whole Wheat Pita Pizzas

8 Whole wheat pitas
2 oz Feta Cheese
8 oz Mozzarella Cheese
8 oz chopped onion
5 oz chopped green pepper (optional)
5 1/2 oz Tomato Sauce
2 1/2 oz tomato paste
2 tsp oregano, dried
1 tsp garlic powder
1/2 oz grated Parmesan Cheese

Recipe Directions for Whole Wheat Pita Pizzas

  1. Mix the tomato sauce, paste and spices together.

  2. Squeeze tomatoes gently to remove some of the seeds.

  3. Spread a tablespoon or so of sauce on each pita

  4. Add the feta and mozzarella cheeses, then the veggies, and top with the tomatoes.

  5. Sprinkle with the Parmesan cheese

  6. Give short spray of olive oil spray if desired.
