Recipe Ingredients for Whole Wheat Pie Tarts

360 grams Five Roses Whole Wheat Flour
254 grams Robin Hood Best For Bread Homestyle White Flour
300 grams Crisco All Vegetable Shortening
6 grams Salt, Table
125 grams Water

Recipe Directions for Whole Wheat Pie Tarts

  1. mix flour and salt in a large bowl.

  2. remove 2/3 cup of above mixture and place in a small bowl; add 1/2 water; mix until it becomes a paste.

  3. crumble shortening into large flour bowl; when you reach pea consistancy, add flour paste and incorporate... but just to the point where it is mixed... do NOT overmix! (or the crust will be tough, and not flakey).

  4. Fill with your favourite quiche filling and bake as per quiche dirctions.

  5. Freezes well when uncooked.
