Delicious a twist on a classic dessert. Peanut butter goodness made with whole wheat flour. No butter, oil, or egg yolks in this recipe.

Recipe Ingredients for Whole Wheat Peanut Butter Brownies

1/3 cup applesauce
2/3 cup sugar
1/2 cup packed brown sugar
4 egg whites
1 cup natural peanut butter
1/2 tsp vanilla
2 tbsp water
3/4 cup whole wheat flour
1/4 cup all purpose flour
1/4 tsp salt
1 tsp baking powder
1/4 tsp baking soda
1/2 cup peanut butter chips (optional - calculated in calories)

Recipe Directions for Whole Wheat Peanut Butter Brownies

  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees.

  2. In a large bowl, combind sugars, applesauce, egg whites - beat until fluffy.

  3. Add vanilla and water, mix until combind.

  4. In a medium bowl combind flours, salt, baking powder and soda.

  5. Sift into peanut butter mixture and combind.

  6. Add optional peanut butter chips.

  7. Bake 30-35 minutes at 350 until golden brown and center is set.
