Not sweet, but habit forming. This makes a great breakfast item. Next time I make it, I will try adding nuts, and replacing the oil with applesauce. Flax seed already replaces some of the oil, as well as ramping up the fiber.

Recipe Ingredients for Whole Wheat Oatmeal Banana Bran Muffins

1 cup whole wheat flour
1/2 cup oats
1/2 cup milled flax seed
1/2 cup wheat bran
1 tsp baking powder
1/2 tsp salt
1 tsp baking soda
2 ripe bananas
3/4 cup brown sugar
2 eggs
1/4 cup canola oil
1/4 tsp cinnamon
1/2 tsp vanilla

Recipe Directions for Whole Wheat Oatmeal Banana Bran Muffins

Mash bananas with baking soda and set aside. Mix flour, oats, flax seed, bran, baking powder, and salt. Beat eggs, brown sugar, oil, cinnamon, and vanilla into the banana mash. Add to dry ingredients and mix by hand just until fully incorporated. Scoop into lined muffin pans and bake at 350F for 15-20 minutes. 12 muffins.
