Recipe Ingredients for Whole wheat flour tortillas

1 cup all purpose flour
1 cup whole wheat pastry flour
1/2 tsp. salt
1 tsp. baking powder
1 tbsp. lard
3/4 cup warm water

Recipe Directions for Whole wheat flour tortillas

  1. Whisk the flour, salt, and baking powder together in a mixing towl. Mix in the lard with your fingers until the flour resembles cornmeal. Add the water and mix until the dough come together;place on lightly floured surface and knead a few minutes until smooth and elastic. Divide the dough into 12 equal pieces and roll each piece into a ball.

  2. Preheat a large griddle over medium high heat. Use a well-floured rolling pin to roll a dough ball into a thin, round tortilla. Place onto the hot griddle and cook until bubble and golden (1-2 minutes);flip and continue cooking until lightly golden (1-2 minutes). Place the cooked tortilla in a cotton towel. Continue rolling and cooking the remaining dough.
