Mix of bread and wheat flour sandwich loaf

Recipe Ingredients for Whole Wheat & Flax Seed Sandwich Bread

2 1/2 cups whole wheat flour
2 1/2 cups bread flour
1 1/2 T shortening
1 cup 1% milk
3 T flax seed
1 T salt
4 1/2 tsp yeast
2 cups warm water

Recipe Directions for Whole Wheat & Flax Seed Sandwich Bread

  1. warm milk and shorting on the stove and proof yeast

  2. in mixture

  3. after proofed add salt to milk and yeast

  4. in a separate bowl mix half the flour and flax seed, make a well and pour in water and yeast and mix until shaggy dough forms

  5. add remaining flour and knead by hand or in mixer for 10 minutes

  6. Let dough sit covered for 5 minutes

  7. Place dough into prepared loaf pan and put in a cold oven, turn on the oven to 400 for one minute and turn off, let dough sit in the warm oven for 30 minutes to rise

  8. after proofing, bake in 375 oven for about 30 minutes
