This is a recipe I found on eatbetteramerica.com, I subed applesauce for the granulated sugar which made them much more moist. Works best with miniature semisweet chocolate chips, but they are hard to find. If you can find them, you only need 3/4 cup instead of a full cup. Enjoy they are delicious!

Recipe Ingredients for Whole Wheat Cookies

1/4 cup granulated sugar
1/2 cup unsweetened applesauce
3/4 cup packed brown sugar
1/2 cup canola oil
1 tsp vanilla
1 egg
2 cups whole wheat flour
1 tsp baking soda
1/4 tsp Salt, Table
1 cup semisweet chocolate chips

Recipe Directions for Whole Wheat Cookies

  1. Heat Oven to 375.

  2. In large bowl, beat sugars, applesauce, butter, oil, vanilla and egg with electric mixer on low speed until blended.

  3. Beat in flour, baking soda and salt until well blended.

  4. Stir in chocolate chips.

  5. Put parchment paper on a ungreased cookie sheet.

  6. Drop dough by rounded measuring tablespoonfuls about 2 inches apart.

  7. Bake 7 to 9 minutes or until ver light golden brown (centers will be soft).

  8. Cool 1 minute; remove from cookie sheet to cooling rack.

  9. High Altitude (3500-6500 ft): No change.
