Whole Wheat Chocolate Banana Bread

Recipe Ingredients for Whole Wheat Chocolate Banana Bread

1 cup Whole Wheat flour (I used Bob's Red Mill ww pastry flour)
1 cup flour
1 t baking soda
1/4 t salt
3 T cocoa, unsweetened (I used Cacao Power)
1 egg
1/4 cup canola oil
1 1/8 c sugar
2 T buttermilk
1/2 t vanilla
3 bananas, ripe-mashed (large, about 1/1/2 cup)
1/2 c walnuts

Recipe Directions for Whole Wheat Chocolate Banana Bread

  1. Preheat oven to 325

  2. Grease and flour a 9x5x3 loaf pan

  3. Whisk together flours, baking soda, and salt; set aside

  4. In a large bowl, mix the egg, sugar and vegetable oil until well-combined.

  5. Add the flour mixture, and when well blended, add the buttermilk, vanilla, and mashed bananas, and mix until combined

  6. Fold in 1/2 c nuts

  7. Pour into prepared pan

  8. bake for 45 to 60 minutes, or until toothpick inserted in the middle comes out clean

  9. Cool for 10 minutes on a wire rack befor removing from pan
