Whole Wheat- Buttermilk Flapjacks

Recipe Ingredients for Whole Wheat- Buttermilk Flapjacks

1 c. whole wheat flour
1/4 c. unbleached flour
2 T. toasted wheat germ
1 T. packed brown sugar
1 tsp.baking powder
1/2 tsp salt
1/4 tsp. baking soda
1 egg, beaten
1 1/4 c. buttermilk or sour milk
1 T. oil

Recipe Directions for Whole Wheat- Buttermilk Flapjacks

  1. In mixing bowl sitr together whole wheat flour, unbleached flour, wheat grem, brown sugar, baking powder, salt, and baking soda.

  2. Combine egg, buttermilk, and oil. Add egg mixture to flour mixture all at once. Stir till blended.

  3. For each pancake, pour about 1/4 cup batter onto a hot, lightly greased griddle or into a heavy skillet. Cook over medium heat till golden brown, turning to cook other side when pancake has a bubbly surface and slightly dry edges.

  4. Server pancakes with maple-flavored syrup and /or fresh fruit, if desired. Makes eight (4-inch) pancakes.
