Recipe Ingredients for Whole wheat buttermilk buscuits

2 cups whole wheat flour
1/2 teaspoon salt
4 teaspoons baking powder
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 cup vegetable shortening
2/3 cup buttermilk

Recipe Directions for Whole wheat buttermilk buscuits

  1. Preheat oven to 425.

  2. Combine dry ingredients, then cut in shortening with pastry blender or 2 knives.

  3. Add buttermilk all at once and stir quickly to form a dough.

  4. Turn out onto floured surface, and cut into 16 squares. Place on baking sheet sides touching for softer biscuits, an inch or so apart if you want darker, crispier biscuits. Bake 15 - 20 min. depending on your oven. (Done in 15 in mine.)
