This is a yummy whole wheat bread recipe that i have had to tweak for my high altitude. You may have to make modifications depending on where you live. the bread flour makes this bread really chewy and soft. Hope you like it!

Recipe Ingredients for whole wheat bread

4 1/2 c water
1/2 c honey
1/4 c canola oil
1 tbsp salt
3 c oatmeal
6 c whole wheat flour
2 tbsp yeast
5 c bread flour

Recipe Directions for whole wheat bread

  1. Combine first 4 ingredients in a kitchen-aid, or stir together by hand.

  2. Add oatmeal and wheat flour. Dough should be very soft and somewhat thin.

  3. Add 2 tbsps of quick rise yeast, or 3 tbsp of regular yeast.

  4. Add enough bread flour to bring the dough to the right consistency. Then turn the machine on high for 5 minutes, or knead by hand.

  5. Let rise 1 hr. Then punch down and make into loaves. Let rise 45 min-1 hour. Then bake at 325 for 35-40 minutes.
