Recipe Ingredients for Whole Wheat Bread

4 cups whole wheat flour
2 cups flour
1 tablespoon salt
2 tablespoons yeast
2 tablespoons sugar
2 cups water
1/3 cup oil
1/3 cup honey

Recipe Directions for Whole Wheat Bread

  1. mix flours and salt in a tall mixing bowl.

  2. mix sugar and yeast in a small mixing bowl.

  3. heat one cup of the water in the microwave until warm to the touch (35-45 seconds will do)

  4. add heated water to the yeast and sugar mixture.

  5. heat one more cup of water in the microwave until warm to the touch (35-45 seconds again).

  6. make a center well or hole on the flour/salt mixture.

  7. add second cup of water to the center well made in the flour/salt mixture.

  8. add the honey and oil.

  9. stir with a wooden spoon until just barely mixed together.

  10. add yeast mixture.

  11. DO NOT STIR.

  12. let stand for 20 minutes.

  13. mix all ingredients together until dough forms.

  14. let stand for 20 minutes.

  15. knead on a floured surface.

  16. cut into two loafs.

  17. knead again on the floured surface.

  18. place in a greased bread pan.

  19. let raise 1-2 hours or until loaf mound reaches the top edges of baking pan.

  20. bake at 350 until dark brown. 25-35 minutes.
