Homemade bread. Makes two loaves, ten slices each.

Recipe Ingredients for Whole Wheat Bread

5 cups unbleached flour
3 cups whole wheat flour
2 tablespoons vegetable oil
2 teaspoons yeast
1 tablespoon salt
1 tablespoon sugar
2 1/2 cups water

Recipe Directions for Whole Wheat Bread

Proof yeast in 1/2 cup warm water. Mix 3 cups whole wheat flour with 2 cups of unbleached flour, and sugar and salt. Stir in yeast mixture, water, oil and mix together in large bowl. Cover and let sit for a few hours, until mass is full of bubbles and looks spongy. Stir down, add flour to make it easy to handle and knead for ten minutes. Put into greased bowl and let rise again for a couple hours until doubled. Punch down and let rest for ten minutes. Form into loaves and put in two greased loaf pans. Let rise again until doubled. Bake at 350 for 30-45 minutes. Remove from pans and cool on rack.
