Healthy whole wheat bread with seeds. Good toasted or for sandwiches.

Recipe Ingredients for Whole Wheat Bread Fredericksburg Cynthia Ckbook

3 cups whole wheat flour
2 tablespoons yeast
1 1/2 cups water
1/2 cup molasses
1/2 cup sunflower seeds
1/2 cup pumpkin seeds
1/2 cup walnuts
1/4 cup flax seeds
1/2 cup raisins
1 teaspoon salt
1 cup oats
2 cups skim milk
3 cups white flour
1 1/2 t. butter
1 1/2 t. olive oil

Recipe Directions for Whole Wheat Bread Fredericksburg Cynthia Ckbook

  1. Combine 1 1/2 cups whole wheat flour, yeast, water and molasses. Mix well and cover with plastic wrap and let set for 3 hours or overnight. Do not refrigerate.

  2. Combine seeds, walnuts, raisins, salt, oats and milk and add to flour-yeast mixture and mix well. Add the white flour and the remaining whole wheat flour. Mix well and turn onto a floured board. Knead for 10 minutes until smooth and elastic, adding more flour as needed to prevent sticking. Form dough into a large ball. Place dough in an oiled bowl and brush the top with oil. Cover with a towel and let rise until doubled in size about 1 hour. Turn onto a floured board. Divide into 2 parts and form into loaves and place each in a greased bread pan. Let rise again until doubled - 45 minutes about. Bake in a preheated 375 degree oven for approximately 45 min until golden brown. Remove from pans and cool on a wire rack. Can brush tops with melted butter. Makes 2 large loaves.
