Very easy, no kneading and only one rising time makes this almost a quick bread.

Recipe Ingredients for Whole Wheat Batter Bread

1 3/4 cup all purpose flour
1 cup whole wheat flour
1 tbsp sugar
1/2 tsp salt
1/8 tsp. baking soda
2 1/2 tsp yeast
1 cup whole milk
1/2 cup water

Recipe Directions for Whole Wheat Batter Bread

  1. Preheat oven to 400.

  2. In a large bowl mix together all dry ingredients.

  3. Heat milk and water to 120 to 130 degrees, check the temperature with a thermometer if the liquid is hotter than this it will kill the yeast.

  4. Pour the milk mixture into the flour mix and stir until every thing is absorbed and mixed. Put dough into a lightly greased 8 1/2 x 4 1/2 loaf pan cover and let rise in a warm place for a bout 30 min or until batter is about 1 inch below top of pan.

  5. Bake about 25 min. or untl the loaf is light brown.

  6. This makes 1 loaf but the receipe is easily doubled.
