Adapted from a recipe for bread, substituted whole wheat flour for all-purpose, used liquid egg whites, and mini chocolate chips.

Recipe Ingredients for Whole Wheat Banana Walnut Chocolate Chip Muffins

1 1/2 cup whole wheat flour
1/2 cup sugar
1 T brown sugar
1/2 tsp nutmeg
2 tsp cinnamon
1 1/4 tsp baking powder
1/2 tsp baking soda
2 egg whites
1/3 cup unsweetened applesauce
1 tsp vanilla
3 bananas
1/4 cup walnuts, chopped
1/4 cup semisweet chocolate chips

Recipe Directions for Whole Wheat Banana Walnut Chocolate Chip Muffins

  1. Preheat oven to 350. Spray silicone muffin cups with canola spray.

  2. Stir dry ingredients together in large bowl.

  3. Stir wet ingredients together in smaller bowl. Combine with dry.

  4. Fold in choc chips and walnuts.

  5. Bake for 18 minutes.
