Recipe Ingredients for Whole grain, nutrient dense---Whole Wheat Oatmeal Raisin Yeast Bread

3/4 package active dry yeast
3 T warm water
1/2 cup boiling water
1 T boiling water
3 T shortening
3 T honey
3/4 eggs
1/4 cup quick-cooking oats
2 T quick-cooking oats
1 t salt
2 cups whole wheat flour
1/4 cup whole wheat flour
1 t butter
1 cup raisins

Recipe Directions for Whole grain, nutrient dense---Whole Wheat Oatmeal Raisin Yeast Bread

  1. 1. Dissolve yeast in warm water and set aside.

  2. 2. In separate bowl stir boiling water and shortening until shortening is melted. Add honey. Then eggs, oats, salt, and shortening mixture to yeast mixture. Add flour. Stir until smooth and elastic 6-8 minutes. Place in a greased bowl turning once to grease top. Doubled in size, about an hour. Punch dough put in loaf pan, brush with butter, and put in oven when doubled in size. 350 for 30-35 minutes
