My first attempt at whole wheat cookies. Adapted from another recipe I found online. The prunes were my idea since they don't have added sugars. They're okay but next time I'll try dried cherries or banana chips.

Recipe Ingredients for Whole Grain Cookies

1 cup whole wheat graham flour
1 1/2 cups oatmeal
1/2 tsp baking soda
1/2 tsp baking powder
1 tbsp cinnamon
1/4 cup brown sugar
1 egg
1/4 cup oil
1/4 cup unsweetened apple sauce
1/4 cup honey
1/2 cup almond slivers
1 1/4 cups prunes

Recipe Directions for Whole Grain Cookies

  1. Mix dry ingredients in a large bowl.

  2. Mix wet ingredients in a separate bowl and add to dry ingredients.

  3. Mix in nuts and fruit.

  4. Refrigerate 20 minutes.

  5. Preheat oven to 335. The low temp is to keep the honey from burning.

  6. Spray cookie sheets with cooking spray. Press spoonfuls of dough onto sheet to slightly flatten the cookies.

  7. Bake cookies for 15-20 minutes or until the bottoms are lightly browned.
