Recipe Ingredients for white dinner rolls (cottage teahouse white bread)

2 cups milk
1/2 cup granulated sugar
1/4 cup butter
2 teaspoons salt
1/4 ounce yeast
1/2 cup water, warm
6 1/2 cups bread flour

Recipe Directions for white dinner rolls (cottage teahouse white bread)

  1. Scald milk inheavy medium saucepan. Remove from heat and stir in 1/4 cup sugar, 1/4 cup butter and salt. Cool to lukewarm. Sprnikle remaining 1/4 cup sugar and yeast over warm water in large bowl; let dissolve. Stir to blend. Let yeast tand until foamy and proofed, about 15 minutes.

  2. Stir milk mixture into yeast. Add enough flour 1 cup at a time to form soft dough. Turn out onto floured surface and knead until smooth and elastic, about 10 minutes.

  3. Grease large bowl. Add dough, turning to coat entire surface. Cover with towel and let rise in warm draft-free area until doubled in volume.

  4. Punch dough down. Divide into 24 rolls. Place on pans. Cover with towel and let rise until almost doubled.

  5. Preheat oven to 350 degrees fahrenheit. Bake bread until rolls are golden brown and bottoms sound hollow, about 30 minutes.
