Basic French bread, no-knead recipe

Recipe Ingredients for White bread

455 grams flour
355 grams water
9 grams salt
1 grams yeast

Recipe Directions for White bread

  1. Mix all the dry ingredients in a large bowl.

  2. Add water and mix until all of of the water is absorbed by the flour.

  3. Cover the bowl with plastic wrap and let set for 12 to 20 hours at room temperature.

  4. Turn dough out onto a floured surface and form into a ball (boule).

  5. Transfer to a floured cotton tea towel and cover with the towel.

  6. Allow the dough to rest for 1 to 2 hours.

  7. 40 min. before the dough is to be baked, place your dutch oven in the oven and set the temperature to 500 C.

  8. Transfer the risen dough to the dutch oven and bake with the cover on for 30 min.

  9. Remove the lid and cook for an additional 15 min, or till the crust is well carmelized.
