Recipe Ingredients for Wheat Pizza Crust

1 package yeast
2/3 cup water
1 tbsp honey
1 tbsp olive oil
3/4 cups whole wheat flour
1/4 cup cornmeal
1/4 teaspoon salt
1 cup all purpose flour

Recipe Directions for Wheat Pizza Crust

  1. In a small bowl combine 1 package dry active yeast and 2/3 cup warm water. Let stand for 5 minutes. Stir in 1 tablespoon honey and 1 tablespoon olive oil.

  2. In a large bowl combine 3/4 cup whole wheat flour, 1/4 cup cornmeal, and 1/4 teaspoon salt. Stir in yeast mixture. Stir in as much of 3/4 to 1 cup all purpose flour as you can with a wooden spoon.

  3. Turn out dough onto a lightly floured surface. Kneed in enough of the remaining all purpose flour to make a moderately stiff dough that is smooth and elastic (6-8 minutes total). Shape dough into a ball. cover and let rise ina warm place until nearly double in size *30-45 minutes). Makes enough for 1 pizza.

  4. Preheat oven to 425F. Grease a 12-in round pizza pan; set aside. Punch down dough; let rest for 10 minutes. On a lightly floured surface, roll dough to a 12-inch circle. Transfer to prepared pizza pan, building up edges slightly. Prick dough all over with a fork.

  5. Bake crust for 10 minutes or until lightly browned. Add toppings then bake for 10-15 minutes more.
