Use fresh fruit, a small amount of honey, pure maple syrup or molasses as a topping. Don't use regular pancake syrup b/c of the corn syrup and other processed sugars. Don't forget to add in the calories of your toppings when logging this food.

Recipe Ingredients for Wheat pancakes

1 1/2 cups whole wheat flour
2 eggs
1/4 cup canola oil
2 cups low-fat milk
2 tsp baking soda
1/2 cup wheat germ

Recipe Directions for Wheat pancakes

  1. In medium bowl, mix lightly beaten eggs with oil and lowfat milk.

  2. Stir in baking soda, wheat germ, and flour (sift first). Mix until blended.

  3. Heat a lightly oiled griddle or frying pan over medium-high heat.

  4. Pour or scoop the batter onto the griddle. Brown on both sides, turning once.
