This is taken from the recipezaar website, though modified with wheat flour rather than all bread flour.

Recipe Ingredients for Wheat French Bread

2 cups bread flour
1 1/2 cups whole wheat flour
1 teaspoon salt
1/4 ounce active dry yeast
1 1/4 cups warm water

Recipe Directions for Wheat French Bread

  1. ****BREAD MACHINE INSTRUCTIONS*****

  2. Place ingredients in bread machine according to manufacturers directions.

  3. Start machine on dough setting.

  4. Proceed to step 9

  5. *****MANUAL INSTRUCTIONS*****

  6. Place all ingredients in food processor or Kitchenaid mixer with dough hook attachment.

  7. Mix until all ingredients pull away from sides and then process approximately 2 minutes longer.

  8. Proceed to step 9.

  10. When dough cycle is complete, remove dough with floured hands and cut in half on floured surface.

  11. Take each half of dough and roll to make a loaf about 12 inches long in the shape of French bread.

  12. Place on greased baking sheet and cover with a towel.

  13. Let rise until doubled, about 1 hour.

  14. Preheat oven to 450.

  15. Bake for 15 to 20 minutes or until golden brown, turning pan around once halfway during baking.

  16. Remove baked loaves to wire racks to cool.
