Recipe Ingredients for Western Beans & Rice

1 cup long-grain white rice - uncooked
1/2 tsp olive oil
1 cup onions, chopped
1 cup celery, sliced
1 tsp garlic
1 can beans, pinto
8 oz tomato sauce
1/2 cup water
1 tbsp ketchup
1 tsp chili powder
1/4 tsp hot pepper, Tabasco sauce

Recipe Directions for Western Beans & Rice

  1. Prepare rice according to package directions.

  2. In a skillet, heat oil over medium heat. Add onions, celery, and garlic.

  3. Cook and stir until crisp-tender.

  4. Add pinto beans, tomato sauce, water, ketchup, chili powder, and hot pepper sauce.

  5. Heat thoroughly, stirring occasionally.

  6. Recipe makes six servings.
