will see original recipe call for pecan meal but notes walnuts maybe a substitute. using chopped walnuts. change ww flour from 1 cup to 2 1/2 bread flour since ww is dry increasing water by 2 oz from one cup to 10 oz and add 2 oz egg whites orginal recipe on cdkitchen.com under pecan wheat bread

Recipe Ingredients for Walnut Wheat Bread

2 1/2 tsp instant yeast
10 oz of water
6 tblsp water
1/4 cup dark brown sugar
2 tblsp butter
2 1/2 cups whole wheat flour
1 cup bread flour
1 1/4 tsp salt
1/2 cup walnuts, chopped

Recipe Directions for Walnut Wheat Bread

  1. combine all ingredients in a medium size bowl . mix until the dough forms a shaggy mess and begins to pull away from the bowl sides

  2. knead the dough by hand for 10 minutes till it becomes smooth. transfer to a lightly oiled bowl, turning to coat all sides . cover the bowl and allow to rest for 1 hour for dough to rise.

  3. transfer to a lightly oiled work surface, shape into a log and place in a lightly greased 8 1/2 x 4 1/2 or 9x5 loaf pan.

  4. tent the dough with lightly greased plastic wrap and allow it to rise till its crowned about 1 " . meaning rest another 45 minutes

  5. bake at 350 degrees for 35 to 40 minutes

  6. tent with alum foil for the last 15 minutes interior should register 190 degrees. while hot brush with butter to keep the crust soft and nice shine
