A healthy dessert with roasted fruits. You can use Pears instead of Apples. You can use quinoa flour and almond flour to make this gluten-free.

Recipe Ingredients for Walnut shortcake with Pan fried Apples

1 tsp unsalted butter
2 tsp sugar
4 apples
1 tsp cinnamon
1 tsp ginger
1 tsp nutmeg
2/3 cup wheat flour
2/3 cup all purpose flour
1/4 cup oatmeal
1 tsp baking powder
1/4 cup sugar
1/4 tsp salt
8 tbsp unsalted butter
1/4 cup walnuts
2 tbsp milk

Recipe Directions for Walnut shortcake with Pan fried Apples

  1. Preheat oven to 350 deg. grease baking sheets.

  2. Sift the flours and Oatmeal with baking powder

  3. Rub in butter until the mixture become like bread crumbs.

  4. Add chopped walnuts. Add enough milk to make a soft dough.

  5. Knead and Roll the dough with a rolling pin.

  6. Cut out small round shortbreads using cookie cutters .

  7. Place them on the baking sheet. brush the top with milk and bake them for 12-15 minutes.

  8. To prepare the apples, melt 1 tsp of butter and cook the apples for 3 minutes.

  9. Increase the heat to medium, Add the sugar and spices and cook for a few minutes.
