Serve with fruit, frozen or fresh yogurt, or sherbet for a low calorie treat. OPTIONS:- DESSERT WAFERS: Cut each baked circle into 4 triangles (31 cals each). PIZELLES: Make half-sized circles and sprinkle with a little powdered sugar when cool (62 cals).

Recipe Ingredients for Waffle Cones (Dessert Wafers/Pizelles)

1 whole egg
1 egg white
1/4 tsp salt
1/2 cup sugar
2 tablespoons butter
1 tsp vanilla (orange, anise,rum, etc)
2/3 cup flour
1 tablespoon water

Recipe Directions for Waffle Cones (Dessert Wafers/Pizelles)

  1. Combine all but flour & water and beat well. Add flour and enough water to make a thick but flowing batter.

  2. Cook 2-3 tbsps batter in waffle cone machine about 1 minute or so until a deep golden brown. Do not undercook or they won't harden. They must be darker than "store-bought" cake cones.

  3. Remove from heat with a spatula and immediately roll baked circles into cones or cannoli, etc. before they firm up, or cut each circle into into four triangular wafers.
