The Fresh recipe falafel but cooked on a waffle iron and sans tahini-the egg is a sub.

Recipe Ingredients for waffeled Fresh falafel

2 cups canned chickpeas
1/4 cup dried bulgur
4 cloves garlic
1 onion, chopped
1/4 teaspoon kosher salt
1 tsp cumin
1 egg
1 tsp turmeric
1/2 tsp coriander
1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper
1/3 cup bread crumbs
1/3 cup flour
3 tbs canola oil

Recipe Directions for waffeled Fresh falafel

  1. Spread chickpeas on a cookie sheet to dry for one hour.

  2. Put bulgur in a small bowl with 1 tbs of water.

  3. In food processor, mince garlic, onion; dump into big bowl.

  4. Puree the chickpeas in the food processor. Add to garlic mixture. Mix in spices, egg, bread crumbs, flour, and bulgur.

  5. Form into one inch balls, flatten, and cook on waffle iron for extra yumminess.
