I got the idea to make this from the "Pom Wonderful" website which had something very similar with pumpkin and pomegrenates. Its very yummy, especially on a cold winter day with a steaming cup of black tea!

Recipe Ingredients for Vicey's Baked Apple Oatmeal

1 granny smith apple, cored and chopped
1 cup raw oats
1 tablespoon raisins
1 1/2 tablespoon chopped walnuts
1 teaspoon cinnamon, ground
1 teaspoon allspice, ground
1 1/2 tablespoon brown sugar

Recipe Directions for Vicey's Baked Apple Oatmeal

  1. Measure the dry oats into 1 or 2 oven resistant bowls, split the apple, the raisins and the walnuts in the same manner.

  2. Cover the oatmeal/apple mix with boiling hot water OR cook in a saucepan until oatmeal is ready. If you chose to soak in hot water, pour any excess water out of bowls after leaving to soak.

  3. In a separate plate, mix the cinnamon, the allspice and the brown sugar together. Sprinkle the mix over the bowl(s), place in the oven at "Broil" for about 3mins or until your kitchen is filled with the wonderful aroma of crème brulée! Alternatively, you could use a torch... the aim is to get that melted sugar taste!

  4. P.S. I mentionned 1 or two bowls because I often eat the entire thing... when i wake up late and pool it into both breakfast in lunch!
