Why do I get very tired about 2-3 o'clock in the afternoon every day?

I am a female who is 39 years old and on a 1200 calorie diet.  Every afternoon around 2-3 o'clock I get very tired (like sleepy tired). This has happened before when I was on a diet.  I think I may be missing something in my diet but  I am not sure what.  I usually do not eat breakfast and don't snack during the day. I eat approx. 300 cal. or less for lunch and it is usualy a Smart One Meal, an orange, and water. If I do snack it is in the evening.


Your blood sugar is probably low at 3 PM.  Many people have hyperinsulimia, a condition where they secrete high levels of the insulin, a hormone needed to process sugar. Your lunch stimulates insulin production, but you make more than you need to process the 50-grams carbohydrate you eat. The extra insulin clears the glucose (sugar) from your bloodstream, triggering extreme tiredness from low blood sugar.  Fix it by eating even amounts of glucose throughout the day.  Eat 3 to 6 small meals at regular intervals. Choose balanced meals high in protein and fiber and limit simple sugars and fruit juice to avoid insulin spikes.
