Very Lowfat Oatmeal Chocolate Chip Cookies Recipe

No oil or butter in this recipe, just the fat of one egg and unsweetened apple sauce. Optional to add walnuts or raisins. The result is more of a 'cake-y' texture and feel rather than a crunchy cookie.

Recipe Ingredients for very lowfat oatmeal chocolate chip cookies

125 g unsweetened applesauce
113 g packed brown sugar
1 egg
1 1/2 cups flour
2 cups oatmeal
1/2 tsp cinnamon
2 tsp baking powder
1/2 cup skim milk
1/2 tsp vanilla
2 1/2 T chocolate chips

Recipe Directions for very lowfat oatmeal chocolate chip cookies

  1. preheat oven to 375 F

  2. mix applesauce and sugar

  3. add egg

  4. in a separate bowl mix flour, oatmeal, cinnamon and baking powder

  5. alternate adding the dry flour mix with the milk into the egg/sugar mix

  6. mix till just blended

  7. add chocolate chips (optional), mix till blended

  8. drop onto cookie sheet, allowing room to spread

  9. bake in oven for 12 - 15 min

  10. cool for 5 min, transfer on rack to cool completely
