This traditional Mexican cheese dip is a great party appetizer. Can be made with beef.

Recipe Ingredients for Venison Con Queso

1 poblano pepper
2 serrano peppers
1 tablespoon vegetable oil
1/2 small onion, minced
2 clove garlic, finely chopped
2 cups grated Monterey jack cheese
1/3 cup cream
1 lb ground venison, browned
1 Salt, to taste

Recipe Directions for Venison Con Queso

  1. Roast the poblano and Serrano peppers, then peel and remove stem and seeds.

  2. Slice peppers into thin strips.

  3. Heat the oil in a pan, add the onion and garlic and saute just until the onion is transparent.

  4. Add the poblano strips, cheese and half-and-half and cook over low heat, stirring constantly, until the cheese is creamy, about 5 minutes.

  5. Add browned venison. Season to taste with salt.

  6. Transfer to a heated chafing dish or slow cooker heating bowl and serve immediately with tortilla chips (not included in nutritional values).
