Veggie Calzone Recipe

Makes 4 servings



The "four servings" are 2 calzones cut in half. Therefore, one serving = 1/2 of calzone

Recipe Ingredients for Veggie Calzone

1 1/2 cups flour
1 1/2 cups whole wheat flour
1 tablespoon sugar
1 teaspoon salt
1 package active dry yeast
3 tablespoons canola oil
1 cup warm water
4 cups spinach
2 cups mushrooms
1 cup tomato sauce
2 cups mozzarella cheese
1 green pepper

Recipe Directions for Veggie Calzone

  1. In large bowl, mix 1 cup of the flour the sugar, salt and yeast

  2. Add oil and warm water

  3. Beat with electric mixer on med speed for 3 min, scrapping bowl frequently

  4. Stir in enough remaining flour until dough is soft and leaves sides of bowl

  5. Place dough on lightly floured surface

  6. Knead 5 to 8 min or until dough is smooth and springy

  7. Cover loosley with plastic wrap and let rest 30 min-

  8. Fill calzone (with whatever you like) and brush with egg before baking

  9. Bake 20-25 min @ 425 degrees

  10. Makes 2 large calzones
