Low-fat delicious tomato sauce - perfect topping for pasta.

Recipe Ingredients for Vegetarian Tomato Sauce

2 tsp. olive oil
1 large onion
4 cloves garlic
2 tsp. red chili pepper flakes
1 zucchini
1 red pepper
25 button mushrooms
10 baby carrots
6 oz tomato paste
2 tsp. dried parsley
2 tsp. dried oregano
2 tsp. dried basil
16 oz. crushed tomatoes
1 tsp. salt
1 tsp. pepper

Recipe Directions for Vegetarian Tomato Sauce

  1. Sautee onion and garlic in olive oil for 3-5 minutes on medium heat.

  2. Add red pepper flakes, zucchini, mushrooms and carrots. red pepper Cook for 5 minutes.

  3. Add in tomato paste, parsley, oregano and basil. Cook for 2 minutes.

  4. Add in crushed tomatoes. Turn down heat to low and simmer for 15 minutes.
