A number of Asian food distributors (e.g. House of Tsang) distribute common sauces. They're fairly low-calorie, and they allow you to make your own Chinese food at home in a way that's usually healthier than what you'd get at a restaurant (and in my opinion, it's actually tastier). Delicious!

Recipe Ingredients for Vegetarian General Tso's Chicken

1/4 cup flour
1 egg
1 cup fake chicken
0.67 oz General Tso's sauce
1 tbsp olive oil

Recipe Directions for Vegetarian General Tso's Chicken

  1. Pour flour onto a small plate and set aside.

  2. Whisk your egg and set aside.

  3. Heat your oil in a saute pan at med heat.

  4. Measure 1 cup fake chicken. Take 3-4 chunks at a time, dip them in the egg, then dredge them lightly in flour. Set these in the saute pan and pan-fry until they're slightly brown and crispy.

  5. As the pieces become ready, remove them from the saute pan and set aside.

  6. Pour 1 tbsp of the sauce over your fake chicken and toss until all of the pieces are covered.

  7. Throw scallions, sesame seeds, or other calorie-free (or nearly calorie-free) additions into the pan with the sauced pieces.

  8. Cook another 1-2 minutes, until crispy, then serve over 1/2 cup brown rice for a filling and delicious meal.
