Home Made Vegetable soup with okra and barley

Recipe Ingredients for Vegetable Soup

1 lb beef
32 oz mixed vegetables, frozen
16 oz corn, frozen
16 oz peas
5 potatoes
1 medium onion
1 gallon chicken broth
1/2 gallon tomato juice
8 oz okra
1 cup oats
2 teaspoons salt

Recipe Directions for Vegetable Soup

  1. brown beef

  2. add chopped onion and chicken broth

  3. cook until meat is nearly done

  4. add cubed potatoes

  5. cook until nearly done

  6. add all frozen vegetables

  7. cook until tender

  8. add barley 10 minutes before done

  9. (it wouldn't add barley so I substituted oats in the recipe)

  10. add tomato juice

  11. cook until hot
