My mom's recipe. The first 4 ingredients are put on the top.

Recipe Ingredients for Vegetable Crumble

2 tablespoons butter
2 tbl vegetable oil
1 1/2 cup whole wheat flour
2 cups cheese, cheddar
1/2 cup Peanuts
1/3 pound parsnip (chopped)
1/3 pound rutabaga (chopped)
1/3 pound turnips (chopped)
1/4 pound potato (chopped)
1/4 pound carrot (chopped)
1 large onion
2 tbl butter
2 tablespoons vegetable oil
1/4 cups whole wheat flour
3 tablespoons tomato paste
1 cup chicken stock
1/2 cup milk
1 pinch salt
1 pinch pepper

Recipe Directions for Vegetable Crumble

  1. Topping -

  2. Rub butter into flour until it looks like crumbs.

  3. Add peanuts and cheese.

  4. Base -

  5. Preheat oven to 375°

  6. Melt butter in a Dutch oven, add onion and saute until transparent.

  7. Add prepared vegetables and cook over gentle heat, stirring occasionally for about 10 minutes.

  8. Stir in flour, then add the remaining ingredients.

  9. Bring to a boil, reduce heat, cover and simmer for about 15 minutes or until vegetables are just tender.

  10. Press crumble topping over vegetables and bake for about 30 minutes or until golden.
