Recipe Ingredients for Vegan Spare Ribs

1 1/2 cups vital wheat gluten
2 tbsp. nutritional yeast
1/4 tsp. garlic powder
1/4 tsp. dried minced onion
1/2 cup water
1/2 cup bbq sauce
2 tbsp. low sodium soy sauce or tamari
2 tbsp. unsalted peanut butter
1 tbsp. melted Olive Oil Earth Balance

Recipe Directions for Vegan Spare Ribs

  1. combine all wet and dry ingredients, holding aside the peanut butter and Earth Balance.

  2. Mix until it forms a soft, elastic dough.

  3. on a cutting board, form the dough into 1/2" thick square.

  4. In a small bowl, mix together the peanut butter and melted Earth Balance, and spread half of this mixture over the dough.

  5. Turn the dough over and repeat on the other side.

  6. Cut dough into 1/2 slices about 3" long. Place ribs on greased baking sheet and bake for 10 minutes @ 400 degrees.

  7. Turn ribs over and baste with bbq sauce, return to the oven and baste the other side and allow ribs to rest another 10-15 minutes before serving.
