recipe from lightlife tempeh package. this needs to be prepared the night before so it can marinate. so do all but the final steps the night before and then all you need to do is saute it, with or without oil (I haven't included oil in the recipe so it's not in the nutrition facts)

Recipe Ingredients for Vegan Indonesian Satay

1/2 cup peanuts
1 small onion
1 clove garlic
1/2 tsp turmeric
1/4 tsp red pepper flakes
1/4 cup lemon juice
1 oz ginger root
1 tbsp soy sauce
8 oz tempeh
1 cup vegetable broth

Recipe Directions for Vegan Indonesian Satay

  1. combine first 8 ingredients in food processor and blend

  2. pour this mixture into the top of a doulbe boiler, cook sauce for 20 minutes, stirring occasionally (or put into a microwave-safe bowl, cover and heat 3-5 minutes on high)

  3. put chopped tempeh and veg. broth in a pan, simmer for 20 minutes

  4. cool, slice or cube tempeh and marinate in satay sauce for several hours or overnight.

  5. if sliced, saute until lightly browned, or briole for 2-3 minutes until lightly browned brushing a little of the marinade on top. if cubed, thread onto the sewers, brush with the marinade and grill until browned.
