Nice variation of the traditional Boston Baked Beans. This is adapted from a Shaker recipe. There was no option for Whole Cloves, try to adhere to using the whole cloves instead of the ground. You're just trying to infuse the flavour without making it too noticeable.

Recipe Ingredients for Vegan Boston Baked Beans

16 oz Select Dried Great Northern Beans
0.25 cup Ketchup
0.25 cup Molasses
0.25 cup Syrups, Maple
0.25 tsp Pepper, Black
1 tsp Salt, Table
1 tsp, leaves Thyme, Dried
1 medium (2-1/2" dia) Onions
0.25 tsp Cloves, Ground
1 stick Margarine, Regular, Hard
0.13 tsp Natural Mesquite

Recipe Directions for Vegan Boston Baked Beans

Rinse and pick through the beans to remove stones and discolored beans. Soak the beans overnight covered by 3 inches of water. Rinse and drain. Cover with fresh water by 3 inches and cook on high for 1 1/2 hours. Drain. Return the beans to the crock. Add ketchup, molasses, maple syrup, pepper, salt, and savory. Stir. Push the onion studded with cloves into the center of the beans. Pour boiling water over the beans to cover by 1/2 an inch. Cook on low for 10-12 hours.
