Recipe Ingredients for Vanilla Pudding

4 c 1% milk
3/4 c sugar
1/3 c cornstarch
1/2 t salt
2 eggs, well-beaten
4 T butter
2 t vanilla

Recipe Directions for Vanilla Pudding

In a heavy saucepan, blend sugar, cornstarch, and salt. Add milk. Cook and stir over medium heat until thick and bubbly. Remove from heat. Stir small amount of hot mixture into beaten eggs (this is called tempering); slowly stir egg mixture into milk and cook 2 minutes on low; remove from heat. Stir in butter and vanilla. Divide into 8 servings, cover with plastic wrap and chill. Or pour into a big container and spoon out servings separately. This is enough to make a big bowl of banana pudding. Just add the banana and vanilla wafer layers.
