Will the vacuum pose help me lose inches from my waist?

I would like to know what exactly is vacuum pose and how will it help me lose inches off my waist.
The vacuum pose is an isometric exercise that is done by pulling the bellybutton back towards the lower spine during a deep inhalation that is held for 15 seconds. The exercise is repeated for 3 to 5 minutes several times a day. Some people swear that the vacuum pose will shrink the waistline but I don’t see how it engages enough muscles. The practice of Pilates uses a similar technique that utilizes the muscles of the pelvis and upper torso too.
