This dish, easy and reasonably healthy makes a nice side for BBQ, picnic or other occasion.

Recipe Ingredients for Unforgettable Baked Beans

1 T Olive Oil
1 c onion,finely chopped
1 c green pepper, finely chopped
8 oz mushrooms, thinly sliced
1 c brown sugar
1/2 c Molasses
1 1/2 c BBQ Sauce, hickory
1 1/2 T chili powder
2 tsp cinnamon
2 tsp liquid smoke
15 oz Tomatoes, diced with juice
117 oz Baked Beans, drained
1 c Ham, chopped

Recipe Directions for Unforgettable Baked Beans

  1. Drain canned baked beans.

  2. To large, heavy pot add oil, onion, green pepper, mushrooms and saute.

  3. Add drained beans and other ingredients, stir and cook, uncovered, in 325 oven for about an hour.

  4. This recipe makes about 12 # of baked beans and makes about 40 1/2 C (5 oz) servings.
